I had been itching to do some analogue design and illustration for a while when the perfect subject matter presented itself. After reading Lev Grossman’s outstanding Magicians trilogy I was inspired to design covers, and to dust off the paintbrushes.

Glowing Burns is multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Jeff Niemczura. His music is lyrically driven, guitar based art rock that speaks to universal themes with intimate sounds. Introspective but not shoe-gazing. Catchy tunes that maybe make you think a bit. It’s the soundtrack to your next road trip.

Photography

Whoa! A creative director who’s into photography. What a surprising and not at all cliché turn of events.

Regardless, photography is something I consistently make time for, and after years of shooting street photography, documenting my travels, and discovering new interesting corners of NYC – I’ve found I have a body of work worth sharing. (At least I think so.)

The Found Type Project

A collection of “Type in the Wild”.

Ever since I got my first digital camera, I’ve been taking photos of typography for reference and inspiration. Whether traveling or just walking around the city: good, bad, interesting, a perfect example of a genre, or completely unique – if I find it inspiring it goes into the collection.

Coming soon: the epic hand lettering/type design side-project no one asked for!

Over the last few years I’ve taken a deep interest in hand lettering, freestyle scripts, and really hand-rendered type of all kinds. This project (coming soon) is a way for me to put some new skills into practice, and to work some muscles I don’t use too much in my day job. Check back soon type nerds.
